Sweet India was started by Venkata Narasimha Raju Kollu and Surya Prakash Revu in 2009. The sweet manufacturing business on Kilmore Street in Hoppers Crossing became a household name among Indians in Melbourne soon after the sweets shop opened.
Sweet India has focused on just sweets rather than offering a full menu. Focusing on just making quality sweets worked like wonders because now they could focus on just creating very presentable high quality sweets. As a results, sweet lovers from all across Melbourne are flocking to this place to get their box of pure sweets.
The whole area of Kilmore street and Hoppers crossing became popular in Melbourne thanks to this Indian Sweets shop.
Both the entrepreneurs didnt expect their startup Indian venture will reach the skies so soon. Though, there was a great deal of planning that went into it. Setting up the sweets menu, location and market demand for Indian sweet were all taken into consideration.
On any given day one could find customers lining up for hot samosas, mothichoorladoos, jalebis and milk cakes—all well-known specialities of the Sweet India brand. No matter what season it is in Melbourne, the demand has been consistent for the sweet makers.
“we have customers who tell us how they completely rely on Sweet India for their sweets and snacks.”says Venkata, co-founder of Indian Sweets. Venkata had done work in the FMCG sector in Melbourne before he ventured into starting Sweet India. “I was in the FMCG industry for four years in Melbourne. We identified a niche market for authentic Indian sweets. There were other players in the market. But a complete emphasis on quality was missing. We are all about being the topmost when it comes to quality and taste,” he says.
